arkay-careers-cover-letter-medical-device-jobsMost employers and recruiters prefer (and often require) a cover letter.  This is an opportunity for the job seeker to express themselves and provide a targeted message to the hiring manager/HR/recruiter.

However, most job seekers do not take advantage of this opportunity and render their Cover Letter useless!

What are they doing wrong?

Many job seekers use the Cover Letter to summarize their career history.  A long novel-like Cover Letter that makes the hiring manager tired just looking at it is often useless because the hiring manager, often, ends up not reading it!

According to the Orange County Resume Survey,  nearly 70% of employers prefer half a page Cover Letter or less.

So, after writing your Cover Letter, go through it again and follow ‘the shorter the better’ approach. Keep your cover letter concise and to the point.
